John Mraz

John Mraz is a documentary filmmaker, visual culture historian, and research professor at the Instituto de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades at the Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in Mexico. He has written essays for Jump Cut, including an analysis of the photographic research for his film, co-directed with Gloria Tirado, Made on Rails: A History of Mexican Railroad Workers. He is also author of Nacho López, Mexican Photographer (University of Minnesota Press, 2003). His current book project is Looking for Mexico: Modern Visual Culture and National Identity, which deals with both film and photography, forthcoming from Duke University Press.
