Return to Dread of mothering: plumbing the depths of Dark Water

Nina K. Martin

Nina K. Martin is an assistant professor of film studies at Connecticut College, where she teaches classes such as Feminism and Popular Culture and Representing Gender — a class that looks specifically at women enacting violence in horror and action films.  Her book Sexy Thrills: Undressing the Erotic Thriller is available from University of Illinois Press, and she is currently working on a new book project exploring the intersection of female subjectivity, horror, and architectural spaces (of which her work on Dark Water is a part).  Eventually she would like to teach an Asian Extreme class so that she can screen some of her favorite Japanese, Korean, and Hong Kong horror films and thrillers.  She has also become obsessed with High Definition film and television, and is delighted that she made the right choice in the format wars.
