Joseph K. Heumann is Professor of Communication Studies at Eastern Illinois University where he teaches various film courses. He co-authored Ecology and Popular Film: Cinema on the Edge (SUNY Press 2009) and “Gunfight at the Eco-Corral: Or, What are Western Heroes Fighting About Anyway?”  (Under review at University of Utah Press) with Robin L. Murray. They are currently working on a manuscript exploring enviro-toons — animated features with explicit or implicit environmental perspectives.
