Horror returns to Chinese Cinema

 

Li Zeng

Li Zeng is assistant professor of cinema studies in the School of Theater at Illinois State University. She did her PhD course of study in screen culture in the Department of Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University. Her thesis explores the representation and (re)imagination of the Cultural Revolution in Chinese popular media. She has published film reviews, articles on Chinese television and contemporary Chinese cinema. Her article based on her thesis research “The Road to the Past: Socialist Nostalgia in Postsocialist China” has been accepted for publication in Visual Anthropology. Her research interests include the representation of history in visual culture, feminist theory, genre, and Asian cinema and television.
