JUMP CUT
A REVIEW OF CONTEMPORARY MEDIA

Bill Nichols

Bill Nichols has recently published Engaging Cinema (W.W. Norton, 2010), the first introductory text to stress social and political
issues over formal qualities. It shows how aesthetics typically
serves to engage viewers in ways that carry genuine social
significance. His second edition of the widely used textbook,
Introduction to Documentary (Indiana U Press), will appear in fall
2010.
