Sam Whitsitt teaches courses on Language and Culture at the Advanced School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators of the University of Bologna at Forlì  (Italy). He has published on various aspects of U.S. culture, such as why American (men) don’t play soccer (yes, things are changing!), why there is a relation between blue jeans and language, on American literature, including the works of such authors as Alice Walker, Henry James, and Herman Melville, and the film maker, Spike Lee. Other work includes forays into the world of James Joyce and the thickets of linguistics.
