Sexual innocence and film: a look at scholarship on virginity

 

Susan Ericsson

Susan Ericsson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art, Communication and Theatre at Concordia University Chicago.  She is author of “Raw Exposure: Portrayals of Youth Sexuality in Contemporary U.S. Documentary” and “Unstable Boundaries: Sex, Academic Research and Conceptions of Normalcy.”  She has produced and directed multiple documentaries, including Tough Guise: Violence, Media and the Crisis in Masculinity, Behind the Screens, Reviving Ophelia and Constructing Public Opinion. Her current research is on sexual representation in contemporary U.S. cinema and the cultural discourses that that emerge in response to explicit sexual depictions.
