Decay of the aura: modern art in classical cinema

 

Susan Felleman

Susan Felleman is Associate Professor of Cinema Studies in the Department of Cinema and Photography and of Women’s Studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is the author of Botticelli in Hollywood: The Films of Albert Lewin (Twayne, 1997), Art in the Cinematic Imagination (University of Texas, 2006), and numerous other writings on art and film, among others: in the collections Sayles Talk: Essays on Independent Filmmaker John Sayles and the forthcoming Cinephilia in the Age of Digital Reproduction: Film, Pleasure, and Digital Culture II; and the journals Camera Obscura, Iris, Film History, and Film Quarterly. She is currently working on two book projects: Real Objects in Unreal Situations: Modern Art in Fiction Films, and with Steven Jacobs on a hand guide to an imaginary museum of cinematic art.
