Mariana Johnson

Mariana Johnson is Assistant Professor in the department of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, teaching courses in Latin American cinema and the history of documentary. She received her Ph.D. in Cinema Studies from New York University, where she also earned a graduate certificate from the Program for Media, Culture and History. A Film Society of Lincoln Center Fellowship recipient, she has been published in Film Comment, The Oxford Guide to Film and Media Studies, Contemporary Spanish Cinema and Genre, Film International, Studies in Hispanic Cinemas, Television and New Media, and the Oxford American. She is currently working on a project about film preservation in Cuba.
