Catherine Bernier

Catherine Bernier is doing her PhD in Film & Moving Image Studies at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, Concordia University. Her research interests include film cultures in India after the liberal reforms, social classes and cinema circuits, popular film industries, cinema going structures and practices, reception studies, narratology, historical poetics, ethnographic cinema as well as citizen filmmaking. She takes part in coordinating the South Asia network for Permanent Seminar on Histories of Film Theoriesand she is a member of PRIAS, the Pole of Research on India and South Asia, based at the Centre d'Études et de Recherches Internationales de l'Université de Montréal.
