Nairobi’s Slum Film Festival, film festival studies, and the practices of development

 

Federico Olivieri

Federico Olivieri is an international cultural operator and researcher on media, interculturality and African cinema. In 2007 he completed a degree in Journalism from the University of Seville, followed by an MA in Global Media and Post-National Communication from SOAS (London). After two years of work in Nairobi as the cultural cooperation officer at the Spanish Embassy, he is currently a PhD student at the University Pablo de Olavide (Seville, Spain). Federico has been a member of the organization of the African Film Festival of Cordoba-FCAT (Spain, www.fcat.es) since 2004 and he is the founder of the Slum Film Festival (Kenya, www.slumfilmfestival.net).
