Janet Staiger is William P. Hobby Centennial Professor Emeritus in Communication and Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Texas. She has published 12 books and more than 60 essays, especially on reception and political affect. Her books include The Classical Hollywood Cinema (1985, with David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson) and recently Political Emotions (2010, co-ed), Convergence Media History (2008, co-ed), Media Reception Studies (2005), and Authorship and Film (2002, co-ed).
