David E. James lives in Los Angeles and teaches at the University of Southern California. His most recent publications are The Most Typical Avant-Garde: History and Geography of Minor Cinemas in Los Angeles and the co-edited collection Optic Antics: The Cinema of Ken Jacobs. Hisco-edited collection Alternative Projections: Experimental Film In Los Angeles, 1945-1980 is forthcoming from John Libbey Publishing, London, and Indiana University Press; and his Rock ‘N’ Film: Cinema’s Dance With Popular Music is forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
