Marina Hassapopoulou holds a B.A. in English from the University of Bristol (U.K.) and a M.A. in English and Film Studies from the University of Oregon (USA). She will begin her Ph.D. program in August, at the University of Florida. Her academic interests include the following: representations of race and ethnicity in the media, international cinema, new media and participatory culture, Queer cinema, postmodernism and film, and independent cinema. Her paper, ‘‘‘It’s All Greek to Me’: Misappropriations of ‘Greekness’ in the U.S. Mass-Mediated Popular Culture,’’ has been published in the Journal of the Hellenic Diaspora (Dec. 2007).
