The Wire and the world: narrative and metanarrative by Helena Sheehan and Sheamus Sweeney

Professor Helena Sheehan is a philosopher who teaches history of ideas as well as media studies (specialising in television drama) in the School of Communications at Dublin City University. She holds an MA from Temple University in Philadelphia and a PhD from Trinity College Dublin. She is the author of a number of books, including Marxism and the Philosophy of Science: A Critical History (1985), Irish Television Drama: A Society and Its Stories (1987), The Continuing Story of Irish Television Drama: Tracking the Tiger (2004). She is co-editor of Mapping Irish Media: Critical Explorations (2007). She has been working on a history of U.S. television drama as well as larger projects of intellectual and cultural history.
