David Oscar Harvey is a filmmaker and Ph.D. candidate at University of Iowa in the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature. His research on HIV/AIDS has been published venues such as Discourse, GLQ, and WSQ. His video essay on HIV criminalization, Red Red Red, has screened at a number of film festivals internationally. He is presently completing his dissertation, Documentaries with a Difference: The Essay Film in Interwar Europe. To
