Baran Germen
Baran Germen is Associate Professor in the Film and Media Studies Department and in the Arabic, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies program at Colorado College. As a scholar of global film and media with an emphasis on the Global South, he holds an ACM Faculty Fellowship. His research focuses on comparative media studies, cutting across melodrama, queer theory, and Islam and secularism. He has articles published on queer cinema in Turkey and is the editor of a twofold special section for Jump Cut on new directions in Turkish television dramas. He is currently working on a book project that reframes the transnationality of dizi as a televisual form of melodrama.
