María Piqueras-Pérez

María Piqueras-Pérez (https://linktr.ee/mariapiquerasperez) is a Lecturer in English Philology at the University of the Balearic Islands. She holds a PhD in Arts and Humanities from the University of Murcia, where she also completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Her research interests cover a range of topics including postcolonialism, cinema, cultural studies and memory studies.  
Her research focuses on Black British cinema. For her PhD thesis, she paid attention to collectives such as Ceddo, Black Audio Film Collective, and Sankofa.María has conducted research stays at institutions including King’s College London, the University of Westminster, and the University of Liverpool. She actively contributes to collaborative research projects and has presented her work in national and international academic forums.

She is member of the research project Queer Memory on the margins of contemporary anglophone cultures (University of Murcia)  and a member of the research groups BRICCS  (British and Comparative Cultural Studies: Identities and Representation, UIB) and LITANGLO (Contemporary Anglophone Cultures,UIB). She is editorial assistant of the Journal Critical Studies in Television (Sage) and copy-editor of Oceánide (Revista de la sociedad Española de Estudios Literarios de Cultura Popular). She has participated in several international and national conferences. Her upcoming publication is a book on Ceddo film Collective (Palgrave, forthcoming 2026).
