Savaş Arslan

Savaş Arslan is a Professor in the Film Design Department at Dokuz Eylül University, Izmir. Apart from contributing various articles on cinema, arts, and culture to different international journals, magazines, and edited volumes at Shakespeare, Journal of Popular Film and Video, Cineaste, Film International and New Cinemas, he has a feature-length documentary titled, "A Sigmund Weinberg Docu-Commentary" and four books: Cinema in Turkey: A New Critical History (2011, Turkish translation 2022, Serbo-Croatian translation 2025), Balkan Cinema and the Great Wars (coeditor, 2020), Media, Culture and Identity in Europe (coeditor, 2009), and Melodrama (2005, in Turkish). He is also the founding editor of the journal Studies in World Cinema and a founding member of the Turkey ONE Association.
