Sonal Vij

Sonal Vij is a Ph.D. student in the College of Mass Communication at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, US. Her research interests include cinema studies, photography, popular Indian cinema, bollywood, photography, Pakistani dramas, and South Asian Partition (1947).

Vij graduated English Literature from Delhi University and has a  Postgraduate diploma in Journalism and Communication Studies from Xavier Institute of Communications Mumbai; Diploma Course in Photography from Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi and a Masters in Mass Communication (Photography and Film-production) from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. She has also audited courses in Cinema Studies from the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Before joining Southern Illinois University, she studied at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.

Vij presents and publishes regularly. In February 2020 she received the Global Talent Award from Jamia Millia Islamia (an Indian Central Government University) for her contribution to photography and mass communication.
